Focus and scope Indonesian Journal of Linguistics are the findings of the research, a review of the literature, and a book review on the advancement of science, which includes the investigation of research questions with immediate or broad application that significantly advance our understanding of human language as a system of communication or a phenomenon involving cognition, social interaction, and history. This journal has scopes such as

It may have a synchronous or diachronic viewpoint, employ qualitative or quantitative research methods, and use an exploratory or confirmatory approach to its methodology. Indonesian Journal of Linguistics accepts manuscripts written in complete Indonesian and English and processes original manuscripts submitted regarding the linguistic scope and not published by other publishers.
